Among those detained were citizens of Ukraine, Belarus, Russia, and Poland – six individuals were arrested. Searches were conducted at 11 properties and over a dozen vehicles used by the detainees.
According to reports, they were searching for couriers within Poland who were transporting illegal migrants from the border with Belarus to the border with Germany.
Since the beginning of this year, border service officials have apprehended 321 organizers of illegal migration, with 66 of them being arrested.
- During the summer and autumn of 2021, a migration crisis erupted in Poland and the Baltic states: authorities in these countries believe it was orchestrated by the Lukashenko regime. According to their reports, Belarusian officials were transporting thousands of migrants from Middle Eastern countries to Minsk for a fee, and then, under the guise of refugees, bringing them to the EU border, encouraging them to cross. Poland, along with Lithuania and Latvia, had to declare a state of emergency in areas along the border and decided to construct a solid fence along the border with Belarus.
