In Ukraine, assets worth $50 million belonging to Deripaska have been seized.

В Украине задержали активы Дерипаски на сумму 50 миллионов долларов.

According to the Security Service of Ukraine, a court has seized nearly 500,000 tons of bauxite and alumina – this batch was produced before the onset of the Russian invasion. "This product was a key component for aluminum production at the Russian plants owned by Oleg Deripaska's 'Rusal'," the statement reads.

It is claimed that Deripaska owned these assets through a commercial entity registered in one of the European Union countries. This company acted as the formal purchaser of the plant's products for subsequent re-export to Deripaska's Russian enterprises. The shipment of the raw materials was blocked by Ukrainian law enforcement in 2023.

The SBU's statement asserts that Deripaska is involved in producing goods for Russia's military-industrial complex, and his factories "manufacture components for Iskander ballistic missiles, combat drones, and radar systems."

In February 2024, the SBU notified Deripaska in absentia about his status as a suspect under seven criminal charges, including financing actions aimed at overthrowing the constitutional order or seizing state power, or altering Ukraine's state borders.

  • Earlier, Ukraine nationalized Deripaska's assets worth over 200 million dollars. Among other things, this included the Mykolaiv alumina plant and the "Glukhovsky quartzite quarry."
  • Oleg Deripaska is the former head of the "Russian Aluminum" company and is currently the chairman of the supervisory board of "Basic Element," which he founded. Since April 2018, he has been under U.S. sanctions as a person close to Vladimir Putin and financing his projects.
  • Following the full-scale invasion of Russian troops into Ukraine, Deripaska was also sanctioned by the European Union, the United Kingdom, and several other countries. As a result, the billionaire lost his Cypriot citizenship, which he acquired in 2017.
