A powerful storm in the UK and Ireland has resulted in one fatality.

The authorities in Ireland, as well as Northern Ireland, which is part of the United Kingdom, have advised their citizens to stay home and stock up on essential supplies. Scotland's First Minister John Swinney has also urged Scots to exercise caution. Rail services in the region have been suspended, and motorists are advised to refrain from traveling. 92% of schools in Scotland have closed.

Due to the weather conditions, dozens of flights have been canceled from the airports in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dublin, and Belfast.

Wind gusts are reaching 180 kilometers per hour. Meteorologists believe that the intensity of the winds will not decrease until at least Saturday evening.
