The individual arrested for running over people in Magdeburg has been charged with murder.

As a result of a car collision, five people lost their lives, including a nine-year-old boy. Several dozen others sustained injuries.

The incident was caused by a 50-year-old doctor, originally from Saudi Arabia. He had been living in Germany for nearly 20 years and was known for his anti-Islamic rhetoric. He criticized the German authorities for allowing migrants into the country while failing to provide asylum to those fleeing persecution from Islamists in their homeland.

According to information from the WDR and NDR broadcasting companies, the suspect was involved in assisting asylum seekers, primarily women, within the Saudi Arabian expatriate community. Based on his social media posts, it can be inferred that he was concerned about the Islamization of Germany and felt he was being monitored.

The suspect expressed sympathy for the right-wing populist party "Alternative for Germany," which is recognized for its anti-migrant and anti-Muslim stance.
