"I had a conversation with Trudeau ahead of Canada's G7 presidency. We discussed key priorities, particularly the enhancement of sanctions against Russia, especially regarding its propaganda networks and 'shadow fleet.' I thanked Trudeau and the Canadian people for their unwavering support, particularly the crucial defense assistance, such as NASAMS," wrote Zelensky.
According to him, he proposed that the head of the Canadian government increase funding for the production of Ukrainian weapons and "explore opportunities for localizing the production of certain types of armaments."
"Close coordination with allies is extremely important to ensure a strong position for Ukraine and to achieve lasting peace and security for all," the President of Ukraine believes.
Separately, Zelensky's press service wrote about the conversation with Trudeau.
"Ukraine proposes to establish a joint working group with the G7 for better coordination of efforts and more effective search for ships that help the Russian Federation finance the war and pose a real threat to the environment. We also discussed further coordination with all partners. Our joint task is to ensure a strong position for Ukraine to move towards a just and lasting peace," the statement reads.
The Office of the President noted that Zelensky separately informed Trudeau about the situation on the battlefield in Ukraine, the progress of the Kursk operation on the territory of the aggressor country, Russia, and the losses among North Korean military personnel used by the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
"Zelensky thanked Canada for all the defense support provided, particularly for the NASAMS system, and also informed about current military needs, primarily the need for air defense and armored vehicles," the release states.
