At her inaugural press conference, Caroline Levitt announced new principles for inviting media representatives to the White House. These changes aim to align with the "revolutionary approach to media" that President Donald Trump employed during his campaign, by engaging with popular podcast hosts and media influencers, the new press secretary emphasized.
“In line with this revolutionary approach to media that President Trump utilized during the campaign, the Trump White House will engage with all media and popular bloggers, not just the traditional outlets that usually occupy this room,” she stated, referencing Gallup polls that reveal a low level of trust among Americans in traditional media.
"For our team, it is crucial to convey President Trump's message everywhere and adapt the White House to the new media landscape of 2025," the new press secretary was quoted by Voice of America.
The press room will now be open to "new media voices that create news-related content," as well as publications that have not previously been allowed in the press room, she added.
The White House invites independent journalists, podcasters, social media influencers, and content creators to apply for accreditation to cover the White House's activities. Representatives of these media can visit the White House press office website to submit their applications.
Previously, Levitt served as the press secretary for Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign and his transition team, and she was also a staff member in his first administration and in the office of Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, who was appointed by Trump as the U.S. Ambassador to the UN.
