He also promised to "prevent men from participating in women's sports," adding that "the government of the United States will officially recognize only two genders – male and female."
Last week, when the Republican-controlled Congress approved the annual defense budget, it included a provision blocking funding for certain types of assistance for transgender children of military personnel.
Speaking at the AmericaFest conference, Trump also vowed to take tough measures against "crime by migrants" and reiterated his promises to restore U.S. control over the Panama Canal due to high tolls on American ships.
Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino responded by stating that "every meter of the Panama Canal belongs to Panama, and it will remain that way." The sovereignty and independence of the country cannot be up for discussion, Mulino added.
In his Sunday speech, Trump laid out his agenda for a second presidential term, criticizing President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.
